The Major You Want
Whether you want a career in medicine, public health or the rapidly growing biotechnology industry, a biomedical engineering degree from Florida Tech gives you a strong background in biology and engineering with experience in biomedical instrumentation and biomechanics.
A perfect preparation for medical school AND professional careers, Florida Tech’s biomedical engineering program is enriched through interaction with local practicing physicians during internships, hands-on design courses and our co-op program. The program is focused, and class sizes are small, allowing you to regularly engage and research with our expert faculty. Combined, these activities give you practical experience, an expanded professional network and perhaps even a pregraduation job offer!
Location Advantage
With the growth of an aging population and increasing number of medical equipment technologies and applications, employment of biomedical engineers is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations, and Florida Tech is committed to filling that gap for the Space Coast community.
Our brand new, 61,000-square-foot Gordon L. Nelson Health Sciences building—complete with state-of-the-art equipment, teaching labs, classrooms and training spaces—is doubling the size of our undergraduate biomedical engineering program and significantly increasing the size of the undergraduate premedical program.
The tight-knit Space Coast community provides Florida Tech students with ample opportunities to network and interact with the local medical community and become engaged in high-level medical research or clinical immersion experiences.
